in May 2012, Wetherby House Montessori Northwood is a Day Nursery that operates from a converted detached house, with a large garden and well equipped classrooms. At Wetherby House Montessori, we employ the teachings of Maria Montessori - whose pedagogy has changed the face of education today.

Our approach hinges off of mutual respect, trust and independence - creating children who feel comfortable in their environment and within themselves. We truly believe that children who are provided with an opportunity to learn and grow will do so. Children are inherently  inquisitive, and will take in information that is made available to them in a natural and joyful way.

Explore our site and learn about our approach to education; you will find deep-rooted passion for the benefit of the individual, the expression of the self, and the development of the child. We are very proud of all the families we are lucky enough to be a part of.

Schedule a visit - you'll find peaceful classroom communities that hum with purposeful activity!

We are open for 50 weeks of the year from 8:00 to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday and take children aged 10 months to 5 years.

We believe that respect is a critical foundation-piece for holistic development.

Through everyday practice, we endeavour to instill in the child a sense of reverence and respect for themselves, others, and everything around them.

The staff approach the children and their colleagues with the same respect they would like in return - creating solid relationships based on mutual participation.

We believe that an inclusive environment, that celebrates differences is key to the successful Social and Emotional development of the child.

A child who understands that differences are a wonderful thing is undoubtedly going to be comfortable and confident in the person that they are.

“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.”
― Maria Montessori

Having trust enough to allow a child to be truly independent can be a huge ask, but the rewards are great; a child who feels that they can do, will do.

We feel that children are the masters of their own education, and should be given the ability to take control wherever possible.
